Sodium Nitrite, High-Purity Quality Empowers Your Excellence

The production of sodium nitrite typically involves two main steps: ammonia oxidation and sodium nitrite formation.

1. Ammonia Oxidation:
Ammonia gas and air react under specific conditions to produce nitrous acid. This process requires a reactor (such as a tank or tower reactor) and a copper- or iron-based catalyst. Strict control of temperature, pressure, and gas flow rate inside the reactor is essential to ensure smooth reaction progress. The resulting nitrous acid mixes with water in the reactor to form a nitrous acid solution.

2. Sodium Nitrite Formation:
The nitrous acid solution reacts with sodium bicarbonate or soda ash (sodium carbonate) to produce solid sodium nitrite. This step requires precise control of temperature, pH, and reaction time. After the reaction is complete, the solid sodium nitrite product undergoes purification and packaging through processes such as filtration and drying.

    Applications:

    1. Dye and Pigment Industry
    ● Diazotization Reagent: Serves as a key raw material in the synthesis of azo dyes. It reacts with aromatic amines to form diazonium salts, which are further processed into various dyes.
    ● Pigment Stabilizer: Used in the production of certain inorganic pigments to regulate color stability.

    2. Chemical Synthesis and Pharmaceuticals
    ● Pharmaceutical Intermediate: Participates in the synthesis of vasodilators (e.g., nitroglycerin) and antidotes (e.g., emergency drugs for cyanide poisoning).
    ● Laboratory Reagent: Functions as an oxidizing or reducing agent in organic synthesis reactions.

    3. Rubber Industry
    ● Foaming Agent: Used in rubber product manufacturing (e.g., sponge rubber) to generate gas through decomposition, creating a porous structure.
    ● Vulcanization Accelerator: Assists in speeding up the rubber vulcanization process, enhancing product performance.

    4. Water Treatment
    ● Closed-Loop Corrosion Inhibitor: Applied in industrial circulating water systems (e.g., cooling towers) to suppress corrosion in pipelines and equipment.
    ● Biocide Synergist: Works in combination with other chemicals to control microbial growth.

    5. Other Industrial Applications
    ● Cement Additive: Delays setting time or improves frost resistance in cement formulations.
